Exciting Weekend of GAA Action
 Another weekend of exciting action is in prospect for all Kilkenny GAA enthusiasts with the county Intermediate final taking place on Sunday in Nowlan Park at 3.30pm preceded by the Northern junior final at 1.45pm while Mullinavat hosts the Iverk Produce Southern junior championship final between Piltown and Tullogher Rosbercon on Saturday at 4pm. The Joe Coogan Auctioneers Intermediate final sees Danesfort meet Erin’s Own of Castlecomer while Bennettsbridge take on Lisdowney in the JJ Kavanagh and Sons Northern junior final. Factor in the International Camogie/ Hurling/Shinty games in Nowlan Park on Saturday (to which admission is free) and a wonderful weekend’s entertainment is guaranteed. Danesfort reach the Intermediate Final The good times continued for Danesfort when, under the shrewd guidance of Adrian Ronan they just edged out Emeralds of Urlingford by a single point in a well contested intermediate semi-final in Nowlan Park on Sunday. They will meet either Erin's Own or Mooncoin in the county final as the ‘Comer men also scored a single point victory over St. Lachtain's thanks to a late rally that yielded five unanswered points in their replayed quarter final.

 The game played in Bennettsbridge on Saturday saw favourites Dicksboro take the title when they defeated John Locke's by 1-9 to 0-9. Exciting Senior Hurling Semi Final Action In Prospect
 Another busy and exciting weekend of action is in prospect in Kilkenny this Saturday and Sunday with an intermediate semi-final between Erin’s Own and Mooncoin down for decision along with the senior semi-finals between city rivals James Stephens and O’ Loughlin Gaels and southern neighbours Ballyhale Shamrocks and Carrickshock. Shamrocks are seeking a three in a row of Kilkenny senior titles and while Carrickshock have a talented young team they will have it all to do against a Henry Shefflin and “Cha” Fitzpatrick led Ballyhale team if they want to reach their first final since 1951. O’Loughlin’s and the Village sides know each other well and have met in a number of exciting semi-finals in recent years. In the Intermediate semi-final both Erin’s Own and Mooncoin will fancy their chances of reaching the final and an entertaining encounter is on the cards on Saturday at 3pm in Nowlan Park.Admission Arrangements for Sunday’s Senior Semi-Finals Entry to Sunday’s Kilkenny senior hurling semi-finals in Nowlan Park is by ticket only. On Sunday next in Nowlan Park St. Lactain’s of Freshford replay their Joe Coogan Auctioneers Intermediate quarterfinal with Erin’s Own of Castlecomer followed by the semi-final of the same competition between Danesfort and Emeralds. With places in the concluding stages of the competition at stake two exciting and competitive encounters can be expected. Maintaining their championship status will be the concern of the clubs involved in the Intermediate and Senior Relegation Finals on Saturday in Thomastown. Battling to avoid the drop from senior level will be Young Irelands of Gowran and Dicksboro while Glenmore and John Lockes meet in the intermediate encounter. A worthy winner of the Opel Gaelic Player of the Month Award for Hurling, Kilkenny midfielder Derek Lyng has been one of the stars of the 2008 hurling championship, leading his county to their 3rd All Ireland Hurling title in a row. The Emeralds clubman has been in superb form for Kilkenny all season forming a formidable midfield partnership with James “Cha” Fitzpatrick, while also playing a pivotal role in the Cats victory over Waterford in the All-Ireland Hurling final claiming a magnificent 3 points from play. Commenting on Lyng’s selection, Chairman of the Opel Gaelic Players Hurling selection committee, Donal O’Grady, was loud in his praise for the Kilkenny star, “Derek Lyng has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the game and has come to embody the selfless work ethic that has become part of Kilkenny's no-nonsense style under Brian Cody. Kilkenny All-Ireland winners for Hurling/Shinty Internationals in Nowlan Park The GAA have announced the squads which have been selected for the Under 21 and Senior Hurling/Shinty Internationals against Scotland on Saturday next, October 18th. Intermediates Take All Ireland Title in Thurles After an even start that saw the sides level five times in the first eleven minutes the game was evenly contested throughout with Kilkenny holding an 0-10 to 0-8 lead at the break. The second half saw Limerick as the dominant side until a Paddy Hogan goal gave his side the breathing space that saw them go on to win on a 1-16 to 0-13 scoreline.

Intermediate Camogie team live to fight another day
Behind 1-11 to 1-2 at half time Kilkenny with a run of four unanswered points early in the second half established the momentum to level the tie 1-11 apiece in the fifty seventh minute of the Gala All Ireland Camogie Final in Thurles. Having had the best of the play with three successive line balls in the final minutes the Galway defence held firm and neither side added to the score before referee Alan Lagrue called time.
