Leinster Intermediate Hurling Final Kilkenny 1-21 Dublin 0-11
Kilkenny had a comprehensive win over Dublin in the final of the Leinster Intermediate Championship played in Nowlan Park in excellent weather conditions on Wednesday evening. Kilkenny had a dream start thanks to a goal from Bill Beckett and from an early stage looked by far the better team . So it proved as points continued to flow with Eoin Guinan in particular showing some lovely touches and accuracy registering four first half points from play and another from a free. Centre back Paddy Hogan hit a 65' and also pointed a monster long range free. At half time Kilkenny led by 1-10 to Dublin's 0-5. The visitors might have been closer at the break but for an excellent penalty save by Kilkenny goal keeper Liam Tierney just before the interval. The second half continued in the same vein and while Kilkenny did not register another goal the flow of points continued. Dublin's cause was not helped by the dismissal of one of their players on two yellow cards. Manager Pat Hoban took the opportunity to empty his bench introducing five substitutes. Kilkenny's next outing in this competition will be an All Ireland semi-final in August as they seek to recapture the title they last won in 2008.
