Local Leagues Return - Round 3

The St Canice's Credit Union Senior Hurling league, the Michael Lyng Motors Hurling league and the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Hurling league make a welcome return for the third round of 2019.   Most Senior and Intermediate games will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday night next.   The one exception was the Fenians Vs Carrickchock game which was played on Saturday evening with the Fenians claiming the two points on offer.

2019 Season

This weekend sees the start of the local leagues, the St Canice's Credit Union Senior league, the Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai Intermediate league and the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Junior league. Following a very successful 2018 season with both Ballyhale and Dunnamaggin being successful nationally its no wonder we are looking forward to the 2019 season.   Best of luck to all players, mentors and clubs in the season ahead.

16th Title For Ballyhale Shamrocks

In front of an attendance of just over 9,000 Ballyhale Shamrocks claimed their 16th title.  Ballyhale led well for much of the opening period but a determined Bennettsbridge never gave up and fought right to then end.   Ballyhale however were not to be denied and went on to claim the Senior title for 2018 by three points on a scoreline of 2-17 to 2-20.

Graigue Ballycallan claim Intermediate Title

Graigue Ballycallan claimed the Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai Intermediate Title for 2018 with a late charge that saw them overcome near neighbours Tullaroan.  Tullaroan led for a large part of the game, but Graigue Ballycallan timed their run to perfection ensuring they were ahead when the final whistle went, in the process securing Senior status once again for the 2019 season.

Senior, Intermediate, Junior Finalists almost decided

St Canice's Credit Union Senior Hurling Final

Bennettsbridge have claimed the first spot in the 2018 senior final thanks to a five point win over Clara in Nowlan Park on Sunday.   The second berth will be filled on Sunday next (Oct 21st) when Erin's Own fresh from their win over James Stephens on Saturday face Ballyhale Shamrocks, that game has a throw-in time of 3-45pm in Nowlan Park.  The senior final will be played on Sunday Oct 28th at 3pm.

Tickets for the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Junior Final and the St Canice’s Credit Union S/F on Sunday next are on sale now at all usual Centra and Supervalu outlets.

Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai Intermediate Hurling Final

Graigue-Ballycallan and their near neighbours Tullaroan will face off in the intermediate final which is also fixed for Nowlan Park on Oct 28th, throw-in time 1pm.   Graigue-Ballycallan overcame Tullogher Rosbercon on Saturday in Nowlan Park by three points, the scoreboard reading 0-14 to 0-11 at the full time whistle. Sunday saw Tullaroan overcome St Lachtain's, in a game that ebbed and flowed for long periods, Tullaroan eventually did enough to claim the second intermediate spot despite conceding a penatly in the final quarter which St Lachtain's couldn't capitalise on.   

JJ Kavanagh & Sons Junior Final

Piltown and Dunnamaggin will contest the junior final on Sunday next at 1-45pm in Nowlan Park.   Both teams will be pulling out all the stops between now and next Sunday to secure the right the play in the Intermediate grade next year.
