A successful Saturday

Sunday, 12 May 2019 at 9AM

Nowlan Park was a happy hunting ground for both the minor and senior hurlers on Saturday with both claiming victory over their respective opposition.  The Minors ran out comprehensive victors over Offaly winning on a scoreline 5-29 to 1-9.   Kilkenny led from early on and never looked like surrendering the lead.

Following that victory Brian Cody's men took on Dublin and both teams started brightly clocking up some early points but it was Dublin who gained the biggest foothold early on and were ahead by four points, the scoreline 0-12 to 1-13 at half-time.    On the restart Kilkenny slowly reeled that Dublin lead in and took a much stronger grip on the game but it was Captain TJ Reid's 45th minute goal that proved a huge catalyst for the Kilkenny victory, from there the team never looked back, winning on a scoreline of 2-23 to 1-21.   Two points was the target and two points were now in the bag.   Carlow next on Sunday, tickets will be on sale early in the week.

Meanwhile accross the water in the UK the Kilkenny junior footballers also claimed a comprehensive victory running out 3-16 to 0-6 winners over Warwickshire.   A busy season is about to kick off for the junior footballers who have huge aspirations of retaining the title they have now claimed on a number of occasions.
