The Kilkenny Minor and Senior Teams to play Dublin in the Leinster Hurling Finals in Croke Park were announced after training sessions in Kilkenny this evening.

The Senior Team sees three changes from the side that defeated Galway in the semi-final replay. Walter Walsh replaces Tommy Walsh and John Power replaces Aidan Fogarty.

Meanwhile the Kilkenny Minor panel were dealt a blow this week when Ballyhale's Darren Mullen suffered a bad knee injury. His place on the team has been filled by Pat Lyng of the Rower Inistioge.

Kilkenny Qualify For Leinster Final

Sunday, 29 June 2014 at 10AM

Kilkenny 3-19 Galway 1-17

In front of a sell out crowd at sunny Tullamore on Saturday evening Kilkenny eventually saw off the challenge of a dogged Galway with T J Reid again picking up a man of the match performance. There was little between the sides in the opening half with Kilkenny turning over just two points ahead 1-11 to 1-9. Kilkenny started strongly on the resumption with 4 unanswered points. But Galway continued to bring the game to Kilkenny.  A Joe Canning side line cut reduced the margin to 3 points 10 minutes in. An Aidan Fogarty goal in the 53rd minute appeared to be decisive but again Galway found themselves just 4 in arrears entering the final 5 minutes. But this weekend the ending was different with T J Reid capping a fine performance with his second goal as time ran out. Kilkenny now meet Dublin in the Leinster Final in Croke Park next Sunday with the same two teams meeting in the Minor decider. Galway head to Semple Stadium next Saturday evening to play Tipperary in the Qualifiers.
