Kilkenny's Walsh Cup campaign ended against Wexford at the semi-final stage in John Lockes Park, Callan on Sunday. The game was a tit for tat battle for the first 15 minutes when Wexford scored their first goal and from there they never looked back racking up a number of points also, to lead 0-5 to 1-8 at half time. On the restart it was Kilkenny that started the brighest and when Eoin Murphy bagged a goal from a penalty on 46 min it was only a two point game. It was Wexford however that pushed on and sealed the win with a second goal on 55 min, the final score 1-9 to 2-18.

On the restart Wexford began to take charge and pushed ahead, three points the difference on a few occasions and ultimately that was the difference when the referee John Keenan blew the full-time whistle, the scoreboard reading 0-16 to 0-13 in favour of the Slaneysiders. Kilkenny will kick off the 2019 season with a Walsh Cup semi-final against Wexford, the team who claimed the Walsh Cup title over them last season. The game is fixed for Bellefield, Enniscorthy this Sunday January 13th at 2pm. We wish Brian, his managment team and players all the best in the season ahead.
After 90 minutes of intense hurling, it took a shoot out from the '65 to seperate Kilkenny and Wexford in the Walsh Cup Final. Wexford claimed the Cup ultimately but both sides can be happy with the intensity shown.
