Podge Butler RIP

The death has occurred of long time Kilkenny referee Patrick Butler or Podge as he was known to his many friends. 

Podge represented Kilkenny in hurling and football, being noted as a very talented player in the latter game. As a referee he was one of the most respected and liked officials in the county taking charge of County finals at every level, up to and including senior in both codes.His involvement as an official continued right up to recently and he showed a wonderful committment  to refereeing Cumann na mBunscoil games. 

Kilkenny County Board extends its sympathy go his wife Mary, brother John, relatives and friends.

Funeral Arrangements

Butler (Sycamore Drive, Ardnore, Kilkenny) 13th May 2019, peacefully, at St. Luke's Hospital, Patrick (Podge), beloved husband of Mary and dear father of the late Padraig, sadly missed by his loving wife, brother John, sister-in-law Veronica, nephew Gerard, cousin Stella, relatives, friends and the GAA community.

Reposing in Johnston's Funeral Home on Wednesday (15th May) from 5 o'clock with Funeral Prayers at 6.30 o'clock followed by removal to St. Fiacre's Church, Loughboy. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 10.30 o'clock. Funeral afterwards to Kilmoganny Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to the MRI Scanner Appeal at St. Luke's Hospital. House strictly private please.
