In 1913 Kilkenny beat Glasgow at Celtic Park, Glasgow and Lancashire in Liverpool. This gave Kilkenny a unique place in history as the only county to play two senior championship games on foreign soil in the one season.

When Kilkenny first came out of Leinster at U-21 level in 1968, not one member of the team could claim to be the holder of an All-Ireland or provincial minor medal.

The last 17-a-side All-Ireland final was won by Kilkenny in 1912. In 1913 when teams had been reduced to 15-a-side Kilkenny won again.
