In 1913 Kilkenny beat Glasgow at Celtic Park, Glasgow and Lancashire in Liverpool. This gave Kilkenny a unique place in history as the only county to play two senior championship games on foreign soil in the one season.

When Kilkenny first came out of Leinster at U-21 level in 1968, not one member of the team could claim to be the holder of an All-Ireland or provincial minor medal.

“Drug” Walsh captained the first 15-a-side team to win a senior All-Ireland title.

Kilkenny’s first senior and minor All-Ireland double was in 1935.

Brian Cody played 24 senior championship games for Kilkenny.

Only once have Kilkenny failed to score in a championship game – the provincial final against Dublin in 1896.

In 1900 there were 5 senior hurling clubs in Kilkenny. There were 15 cricket clubs.

Kilkenny’s first goal in an All-Ireland final was scored by Mick Coogan of Tullaroan in 1895.

Kilkenny contested 5 All-Ireland SHC finals in a row from 1971 to 1975. Cork from 1901 to 1905 was the only other county to achieve this feat.
