Br Damien Brennan RIP

Tuesday, 03 September 2019 at 9PM

The Kilkenny GAA community was numbed with sadness on Tuesday on hearing the news that Br Damien Brennan had passed away.   Br Damien has long been associated with Kilkenny GAA and Callan in particular.  As Principal of Coláiste Éamann Ris, Callan and a former Kilkenny Minor Hurling Manager Br Damien has long established and deep roots in the Kilkenny Community.   Br Damien reached out and helped so many in his time with us, something that was very evident from the large number of callers over the past few weeks.

Kilkenny GAA would like to extend its sympathies to Br Damien's family, sisters Bridie, Margaret, Catherine and Bernie, brothers Liam and Seán and his extended family and the CBS Callan community.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

World Senior Citizens Day

Tuesday, 20 August 2019 at 9PM

Over 50 Senior Citizens visited Nowlan Park to mark World Senior Citizens Day on Wednesday. The day started at 2 pm and following a greeting by Jimmy Walsh, County Chairman, they was a walking tour of Nowlan Park taking in the meeting rooms, photographs, dressing rooms and gym, the pitch and the press box. This was followed by refreshments and a talk on chair based exercises led by Caroline Clifford.  This event was organised by the health and well-being committee as a social inclusion initiative and it is the first time for the event to take place. On the day guests were spoken to by Jimmy Walsh, John Coogan, Eoin Larkin and Seamus Reade.

All-Ireland Finals

Tuesday, 20 August 2019 at 4PM

Sunday proved a difficult day for both the Kilkenny minor and senior teams in their respective All-Ireland Finals.   The minor game against Galway finished on a scoreline 3-14 to 0-12.   For full match report click here

The senior team lost to Tipperary in the second game of the day on a scoreline of 3-25 to 0-20.   For full match report click here.

Great credit must go to both panels, backroom staff and managements for the enjoyment they have provided for us throughout this year.  As the 2019 inter-county season draws to a close the focus now moves back towards our local championships which will resume in two weeks time.
