Kilkenny Senior Hurler Derek Lyng has announced his retirement from inter county hurling. The Emerald’s of Urlingford star joined the Kilkenny senior panel in 2001 and won 6 All Ireland senior titles, 4 National League titles and two All Star Awards in addition to Leinster, Railway Cup and Walsh Cup titles with Kilkenny in an honours laden career. Derek’s commitment and work rate on the field of play allied to his skill made him a favourite of Kilkenny supporters in a wonderful career and we thank him and wish him all the best.
