There was a good crowd in attendance at the Final of the Billy Ronan Tournament in Tom Ryall Park Kilmanagh on Sunday the 28th of August. John Lockes and St. Lachtains both put out very good teams to contest the final. It was a hard fought final with both teams giving it everything. The half time score was John Lockes 1-4, St. Lachtains 0-8. Both teams kept into each other scores wise with it looking like a draw could be on the cards towards the latter half of the second half. John Lockes scored a point in injury time and victory was theirs. The final score was John Lockes 2-13 St. Lachtains 2-12.
The trophy was presented to the captain of John Lockes, Paddy Kennedy by Johnny Ronan on behalf of the Ronan Family. After he received the cup Paddy Kennedy thanked the Ronan family for inviting John Lockes into the tournament. Paddy Kennedy said John Lockes were delighted to have two hard games in this tournament and it was great preparation for the championship. He thanked Graigue Ballycallan for organising the event, thanked the John Lockes supporters for coming to the game and gave a sporting three cheers to St. Lachtains.
