Kilkenny went down to Clare in the All Ireland Intermediate final losing on a scoreline of 2-13 to 1-11. It was a brave effort by the Kilkenny team, which was four points in arreara at the interval, 1-8 to 1-4. the Kilkenny goal c oming from Paul O’Flynn. Kilkenny’s best sector was its defence where P.J. Rowe and Stephen Byrne stood out while Ger Aylward made most impact up front when introduced as a sub.
Kilkenny Under 14’s were eliminated after the Group Stage, despite being undefeated, in the Tony Forristal Under 14 tournament held in Thurles and Walsh Park respectively. Kilkenny drew with Waterford and defeated Wexford but a draw in their final game with Tipperary meant the Tipperary team went through.
