It is with regret that Kilkenny County Board notes the death of Martin White. Martin, who was 102 years old, was Kilkenny’s oldest surviving All Ireland Senior Hurling winner. Born in 1909, he was a native of Lacken, near Tullaroan. Martin attended the C.B.S. and St. Kieran’s College.
During his hurling career he won three Kilkenny Senior Hurling titles with Tullaroan (1930,’33 and ’34) and played on the Kilkenny County senior side from 1931 to 1938 winning three All Ireland titles (1932, ’33 and ’35).
In 2009 on the occasion of Martin’s 100th birthday Kilkenny County Board presented Martin with a specially commissioned 2009 All Ireland Senior Hurling medal to mark his centenary and Kilkenny’s four in a row All Ireland victory. Kilkenny County Board extends its sympathy to Martin’s family. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
