The KIlkenny senior and Intermediate hurling champions both lost out in the AIB Leinster Club Hurling Championship this afternoon in Nowlan Park. James Stephens, minus Jackie Tyrrell, were beaten by Wexford champions Oulart the Ballagh, who were also missing three first choice players, by 2-12 to 0-15. The crucial goals came either side of half time and proved too much for a James Stephens team which looked tired after its exertions of the previous two weekends. Danesfort, minus Paddy Hogan, lost out to Carlow senior champions Mount Leinster Rangers by 1-10 to 1-8. The one bright spot was the performance of Muckalee in the AIB Leinster club football championship defeating Carlow Intermediate champions St. Andrews of Bagenalstown by 1-13 to 1-7.
