St Patrick’s Ballyragget 0-21 Ballyfin 1-7
Ballyragget won the Leinster Junior Club hurling title yesterday in Portlaoise with a convincing win over Laois champions Ballyfin. In doing so they became the sixth Kilkenny Club in succession to take the Leinster crown. Ballyragget were by far the stronger side leading by 0-11 to 1-2 at the interval, the Ballyfin goal coming from a 21 yard free. Kevin Kelly registered three scores in quick succession for the Kilkenny champions on the resumption and they led by 13 points with 15 minutes left. It wasn’t until the 47th minute that Ballyfin scored their first point from play and while they added four points in succcession against a tiring Ballyragget side the result was never in doubt.
