Two Southern A U-21 Hurling Finals are down for decision this weekend: U-21 A Shield Hurling Final Glenmore V Thomastown in Carrigeen Sat. Nov. 26th 2 p.m. U 21 A U-21 Championship Final Mooncoin V Rower Inistioge in Slieverue Sun. Nov. 27th 2 p.m. In the U-21 A Hurling Championship Final holders, Mooncoin, will take on the Rower Inistioge in what should be a great contest. Mooncoin have shown how serious they are in the defence of their title by dismissing a good Glenmore side in a very convincing manner in their quarter final tie in Mullinavat. They followed this up with a good win over Ballyhale Shamrocks in the semi-final in Piltown. The young and skilful Ballyhale U-21s pushed them all the way until the final minutes when last year’s champions proved their worth with a late flurry of points to edge them home on a score line 1-16 to 1-12. .The Rower Inistioge have been no less impressive with their fine opening win over Thomastown in their quarter-final. They continued their good form to get past a fancied Mullinavat side in Slieverue in the semi-final. Both teams have earned their places in this year’s southern A championship final. The holders may just have the greater balance to hold on to their title and win a coveted place in the county final, where they were triumphant last year. In the U-21 A Shield Final Glenmore will start as favourites after their fine win over Ballyhale Shamrocks in the semi-final. They have recovered from their surprisingly big defeat to Mooncoin in the first round of the championship.and will be intent on finishing their campaign by annexing this inaugural U-21 A Hurling Shield. Thomastown will be no push-over as their minor A teams have been most impressive in the past few years. Their claim on this year’s minor A championship hurling title just came up just short after almost two & half hours of titanic hurling in two enthralling county final deciders. Glenmore will be fancied to shade it and bring the shield back to the ‘Glen’..
