A London Branch of the Kilkenny GAA Supporters Club was launced recently at the Gipsy Hill Tavern in South East London. Among those in attendance were Chairman of the County Board Paul Kinsella, Kilkenny Supporters Club Chairman John Mackey, recently retired star Michael Kavanagh and former Cork Star Thomas Mulcahy. Prior to the night’s celebrations that saw a great turn out having their picture taken with the Liam Mc Carthy Cup, the cup was brought to the grave of Liam Mc Carthy. A feature of the night was a question and answer session between Thomas Mulcahy and Michael Kavanagh. Speaking about the event Michael Kavanagh said ‘I was thrilled to be asked. Kilkenny are enjoying great times on the field now but in the current climate we need the support off the field. We have great support back home and to get a branch over here in these times when so many are coming over to work,it would be great to get some of the support behind them and it would be great for them to have an outlet’.
