Two County Junior Hurling Finals & Four Divisional Junior A/B Hurling Finals & One Junior A Hurling Relegation Hurling Final.
On Sunday next, August 26th, two County Junior Hurling League Finals as well as the Southern & Northern Junior A&B Hurling Championship finals are down for decision with extra time to be played in the event of a draw.
Prior to that Piltown & St. Martin’s will meet on Friday evening in the J.J. Kavanagh & Sons Junior A Relegation Hurling Final in Tom Ryall Park at 6.30 p.m.St. Martin’s look likely to prevail against a young Piltown team and come out on the right side of a relegation final for the second time in two years. Referee: Pat Hayes
Next up, on Sunday, will be Mooncoin & Clara in the first of the J.J. Kavanagh & Sons County Junior League Finals (B Section) which will be played in Thomastown at 1 p.m. . Both sides have put up some very good scores in their groups. Mooncoin’s greater experience at this level may be a deciding factor and might give them a slight edge but Clara will not hold any fears of their southern rivals. It should be a very competitive encounter. Referee: Raymond Byrne
At the same time the Country Style Foods Junior B Championship Final is now in Mullinavat at 1 p.m. featuring Kilmacow, this year’s Southern League winners versus Graignamanagh, who edged out Windgap by 3 points in the semi-final. Form would suggest Kilmacow will add the Southern Championship to their League Title. Referee: John Kennedy
Next at 2 p.m., in Freshford, Graigue Ballycallan will be endeavouring to add the Northern J.J. Kavanagh A Hurling Championship Crown to their Northern & County A League Titles as they take on a Lisdowney team which has been improving all Summer. Graigue Ballycallan will be favourites here but should be well tested by a very promising Lisdowney squad which seems to be hitting top form in recent weeks. Referee: Peter Burke
At 2.45 p.m., in Ballyhale, defending Southern Iverk Produce Junior A Hurling Champions Rower Inistioge will be putting their title on line against Mullinavat. Both sides have been putting in impressive performances on their way to the final. Very hard game to call, may go to extra time. Referee: Richard Dowling
At 5 p.m., in Clara, Barrow Rangers will play Black & Whites in the J.J. Kavanagh & Sons Northern Junior B Championship Final. Barrow Rangers will be favourites here after overcoming Northern & County B League Winners, O’Loughlin Gaels. However Black & Whites had one point to spare over their rivals in the league/championship section. Another intriguing contest is promised. Referee: Paddy Neary
At 6 p.m. Piltown face Cloneen in the J.J. Kavanagh County Junior Hurling League Final(A Section) in St. John’s Park. Cloneen have had a great league/championship campaign and will be endeavouring to round it off with a win over their southern opponents. Piltown will be favourites here to win a league title that has proved to be very elusive for them over the years. Referee: Seán Cleere
