The final day of the 40×20 World Handball Championships brought more success for Kilkenny players.In the Mens B Doubles Final, Ciarán Neary and Micheál O’Brien defeated Tadhg Carroll and Dale Cusack in a tie-break to take the gold medals while in the Masters Doubles Final, Ducksy Walsh and Tommy Hynes defeated Tom Sheridan and Niall Kerr in two games. Further success came in the Silver Masters A Doubles Final as Billy Bourke and Egin Jensen defeated Carlow’s John Ryan and Paddy Donavan from Laois in a tie-break.
In the Silver Masters B Final, Eamon Purcell from Windgap and Paul Dowling were unlucky to lose out to Ned Kealy and Eamon Rice in another tie-break contest.
So a total of 5 Gold medals and 3 Silver medals were won by Kilkenny players in these championships: For Gold – Ducksy Walsh won 2, while William Love, Billy Bourke and Ciarán Neary won one each. While there was Silver for – Brendan Burke, Eamon Purcell and Paul Dowling.
