James Stephens landed the Minor A Citroen Football Championship to complete the double in Hurling & Football in a hard fought county final against a gallant Piltown side on a score line of 1-10 to 1-7. A large crowd had gathered in Ballyhale ahead of a much anticipated game. Bord na n’Og Vice Chairman John Wymss was on hand to present the trophy. This was the Village’s first double since 1992 and 13th Minor A Football title.
In the Roinn C County Football Final Emeralds caused a massive upset when they defeated near rivals Tullaroan played in Tullaroan on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-3. Tullaroan had already annexed hurling titles at Roinn B U-16 and Minor C but this proved a bridge too far for them in what was an exciting season for them and for Emeralds it was just reward for their efforts at underage.
