PRESS RELEASE – “GLANBIA ANNOUNCE A NEW THREE YEAR HURLING SPONSORSHIP DEAL WITH KILKENNY”
“[Thursday, 14 February 2013] At a special function in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny, Glanbia plc announced a new three year sponsorship deal for Kilkenny hurlers for 2013 – 2015. As in the past, the sponsorship will include Kilkenny’s Senior, Intermediate, Under 21 and Minor County hurling teams and continues to be performance bonus related.
Commenting on the new sponsorship deal, Brian Phelan, Glanbia Executive Director – Group Development and Global Cheese said, “Glanbia are delighted to announce a continuation of our sponsorship with the Kilkenny hurlers who have been such outstanding ambassadors not alone for hurling but for sport in general. This sponsorship is an ideal fit for a food nutrition company like Glanbia and particularly for Ireland’s No.1 consumer milk brand Avonmore.
We have had a truly fantastic and successful relationship with Kilkenny who have won an incredible nine Senior All Ireland titles in the past 14 years, making them one of the greatest County teams of all time. I want to thank Ned Quinn, County Chairman, Brian Cody, Kilkenny Manager and all the county board officers as well as all the players for their help and support over the years to us as sponsors and I wish them continued success this year.”
Speaking on behalf of the Kilkenny County Board, Chairman Ned Quinn said, “With the costs now involved in running county teams, it would be impossible for Kilkenny to prepare teams without the continued support and generous sponsorship of Glanbia. We have an excellent working relationship with them and I am delighted to have them on board again as sponsors for a new three year term and I look forward to our continued association with them over the next three years. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Glanbia for supporting our upcoming Hurlers Race Day in Gowran Park on Saturday, 23rd March and for also sponsoring the Glanbia Jackie Tyrell Bumper Race.”
Speaking on behalf of the players and management, Kilkenny Manager, Brian Cody said, “The players and management very much appreciate the generous sponsorship and support of Glanbia last year and over the previous years. I also want to thank Glanbia for providing our players with a range of nutritional dairy products over the season which plays an important part in our hurlers’ diet. The team will do all in our power to reward them.”
