Clara capped an incredible year in Nowlan Park today by winning the 2013 St Canices Credit Union Senior Hurling Championship with a 1-15 to 2-10 defeat of Carrickshock. Carrickshock seemed to be in pole position when a Brian Donovan goal on the stroke of half-time levelled the sides and they could look forward to playing the second half with a very strong wind at their backs. But they failed to strike for home in a dullish third quarter where both sides struggled to put scores on the boards. The key score was a Lester Ryan goal from a 20 metre free on 58 minutes to give Clara a one point advantage and they weathered the Carrickshock final onslaught to secure a famous victory.
In the opening game The Rower Inistioge Minors finished an incredible eight days for the Club when they added the Roinn A Minor title to the Intermediate title won last weekend. Two goals early in the second half proved decisive here and despite O’Loughlin’s best efforts they ran the Rower Inistioge were full value for their 2-9 to 1-7 victory
