Calling all budding Kilkenny hurlers – your chance to train with Champions!
County stars Richie Hogan and JJ Delaney are coming to Nowlan Park on 23rd May for Centra’s community hurling event
This year, Centra celebrates its sixth year as sponsor of the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship. Throughout the summer, Ireland’s largest convenience retailer is bringing together hurling’s ‘Champions of Healthy Living’ through twelve community hurling events taking place all over the country. The events, which have returned for a fourth year, will see some of the country’s finest inter-county hurling stars travel the length and breadth of Ireland to give heathy eating and training tips to the next generation of hurling stars.
On Saturday 23rd May, the first of twelve community events will be hosted in Nowlan Park with two of the county’s biggest stars,Richie Hogan and JJ Delaney, on hand to give budding hurlers from local Kilkenny clubs the chance to learn from the best and develop their game.
There will be plenty of fun to be had on the day as Centra aims to bring the whole community together through a special hurling skills session, healthy eating tips, fresh and tasty BBQ delights and a host of family entertainment. This includes a hurling simulator to test your hurling skills, goodie bags and music from KCLR FM!
This family fun event is supported by the following participating Centra stores; Mooncoin, Mullinavat, Knocktopher, College Road, Ardnore, Johns Green, Bennetsbridge, Thomastown, Urlingford and Borris Co. Carlow.
To sign up for the event, register in-store in one of the participating Centra stores. Closing date for entries is Monday 18thMay. The event commences at 10am on Saturday 23rd May in Nowlan Park. The hurling skills session is open to boys and girls of all standards from ages five to twelve.
Centra, at the heart of communities throughout Ireland with over 460 stores nationwide, is continuing to work with the GAA to promote and develop the game of hurling for all ages right across the country; in both developing and well established hurling counties.
This year Centra has also introduced a special new GAA product range, perfect for all the budding Henry Shefflin’s. The new range includes a range of sandwiches, all under 450 calories, as well as delicious ‘Fruit Pots’ and strawberry and mango smoothies.
