Cumann na mBunscol Book available at Convention

By Mary Morgan Mon 7th Dec

Cumann na mBunscol Cill Chainnigh launched its book O Fhás go h Aois last October. The book records the last 25 years of a total of 75 in existence. It is a wonderful collection of reports, colourful photographs and stories of the many activities both on and off the field from 1989 to 2014 Each parish has its own section where every historical fact pertaining to its history is beautifully chronicled. The editors Gerry O Neill and Dermot Dunphy deserve our sincere thanks for the final publication.    The primary schools have received an allocation of 10 books each for sale to the families who are currently attending their primary schools. However it is clear that so many children will have moved out of the school system in the last 25 years and as such will find it hard to purchase a copy of the book.        Cumann an mBunscol will make 10 books available to each club on the night of annual convention in December. The book sells at €15 and a cheque or cash can be presented on the night. A receipt will issue.   A very striking feature of the book is the inclusion of profiles from 14 current or very recently retired Kilkenny senior hurlers where they reminisce on their playing days in Cumann an mBunscol leagues. Aoife Neary makes up the final player in what can be described as a truly great all star selection.        So don’t delay in securing your pack of books for circulation in your club as this book will be a collectors item in the future. Every parish tasted some success in Cumann na mBunscol in the last 25 years so every reason to have it in the bookcase at home.
