At Tuesday evening’s County Committee Meeting a presentation was made by Marion Acreman, Manager MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre, on the Kilkenny Famine Experience.

The story has significant relevance for Kilkenny GAA as the Famine Burial plot was located right beside Nowlan Park in the Old Kilkenny Workhouse. The Community Inclusion element of the Project – connecting 975 people to the individuals found onsite in 2005 is considered very important. All those who attended Tuesday’s meeting participated by having their fingerprints recorded to be etched in metal to enhance the crypt in the Famine Memorial Garden at Mac Donagh Junction.
