Graignamanagh are the U19 Roinn ’C’ Hurling Champions for 2018, after a thrilling game against Southern rivals Piltown.
Both teams gave their all in pursuit of Victory and both are to be complimented on their displays in a very well prepared Dr Tierney Park.
Piltown started the stronger of the teams and with Capt John Kenny proving to be a torment in home side defence they ran up a five point lead with 7 mins to half time ,but a Sean Holden goal and Niall Hayden free for the home team managed to and kept the deficit to a point at half time on a scoreline of 1-7 to 0-11.
Graig started the second half much better and a second green flag by the ever dangerous Sean Holden looked to have put them in the driving seat. Piltown to their credit never gave up and a score from Owen Brophy ,Alan Kinsella and a goal from Man of the Match John Kenny who scored(1-12) put the visitors 2 points up as the game went into injury time . The Graig men threw the kitchen sink at Piltown and were rewarded when Stephen Cahill crashed home a goal which gave the Barrow Boys a 1 point win.
It was hard luck on the Piltown men but well done Graignamanagh who never gave up the hunt to lift the shield.
