Shamrocks Ballyhale are the St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny senior hurling champions once again for 2021, completing a four in a row for the southern side. O’Loughlin Gaels started brightly in what was a fierce competitive and physical contest at times, at half time the scoreboard read 1-11 to 0-11 in favour of the town side. After the restart that pattern continued but a two goal blitz by Ballyhale Shamrocks turned the contest in their favour. Once ahead they never looked like relinquishing the lead running out 3-19 to 3-15 winners.
At half time in Sunday’s game the 1971 Champions Bennettsbridge were honoured on the pitch. Eighteen of the team and panel from that day were present to be honoured.
