The Kilkenny GAA family was in mourning on Thursday on hearing the sad news of the death of Johnny McGovern, Bennettsbridge. Johnny had a long inter-county career with Kilkenny winning an All-Ireland minor title in 1950, two senior titles in 1957 and 1963, along with five Leinster medals in 1953, 57,58,59,64. With his club he was a member of eleven of the twelve Bennettsbridge senior county championship winning teams.
