The Kilkenny GAA community was plunged into sadness on Monday morning on hearing the news Canon Tommy Murphy had sadly passed away. A native of the Rower, Canon Tom left a lasting impression on many GAA clubs throughout the county.
Canon Tom was a vital player for Kilkenny in 1963, when they overcame Waterford in the All-Ireland, he won a second All-Ireland in 1969. He was a member of the All-Ireland minor team in 1960 and was also a coach in St Kieran’s College, leading them to honours in 1965.
We extend our sympathies to Can Tom’s brothers Billy and Gee, sisters Maura and Kitty and extended family. See funeral arrangements here.
