U-19’s

Last Thursday, the Kilkenny U19’s took to the field in UPMC Nowlan Park for the inaugural U19 Development League Final against Dublin.  The new initiative from Kilkenny GAA was a resounding success with teams from Dublin, Offaly and Wexford competing and Kilkenny, having won all their group matches, claimed victory in the final on a 4-21 to 1-17 scoreline.

The concept behind the U19 League is to bridge the gap between inter county U17 & U20 and the group stages and the final showcased the emerging talent coming through to the U20 grade in the coming years.

In a first for the Kilkenny Cats App, the final was live-streamed through the App and the match can be viewed at any time on the App.

Celtic Challenge

On Saturday, the Kilkenny Celtic Challenge panel travelled to Carrick Swan GAA Club to take on Tipperary Blue.  While Tipperary led for a long spell in the first half, Kilkenny went into the break a point up (0-11 to 1-7) and in the second half, Kilkenny maintained their lead and closed out the game with a 1-16 to 1-12 victory.

The Celtic Challenge team next take on Cork East on Saturday in UPMC Nowlan Park.  Entry is free.

Minors

Saturday also saw the Kilkenny Minors open their 2024 Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Hurling Championship campaign against Galway in UPMC Nowlan Park.   In an impressive display from the minors, they took control from the outset and ran out comfortable 4-24 to 1-14 winners in the end.
