Wednesday 16th April – U19 Hurling Development League Cup Final

In its second year, the U19 Hurling Development League came to a conclusion last Wednesday evening when Kilkenny welcomed Dublin to UPMC Nowlan Park for the Cup Final, a repeat of last year’s final.  In an exciting game which was live-streamed on our Kilkenny Cats App and where the sides were evenly matched, Kilkenny came out two point winners on a 1-24 to 3-16 scoreline.  Well done to the panel, manager Matthew Ruth and his backroom team.  The match can be watched back on the Kilkenny Cats App.

Thursday 17th April – Leinster Minor Football Championship – South Leinster Shield

Our Footballers played three very competitive matches in the South Leinster Shield over the past number of weeks.  Last Thursday, they travelled to Baltinglass to take on Wicklow in the last of the three matches and after another great performance, only three points separated the sides at the final whistle – FT score Kilkenny 3-4, Wicklow 0-16.  They now progress to the All-Ireland Tier 3 series.

Saturday 19th April – Leinster Senior Hurling Championship

Our Senior Hurlers opened their Leinster SHC campaign at home to Galway last Saturday.  In wet conditions, they got their championship season off to a good start with a comprehensive victory over the Tribesmen with goals from Adrian Mullen, Eoin Cody and Mossy Keoghan.  FT score Kilkenny 3-24, Galway 0-21.

Our Minor Hurlers also opened their Leinster campaign last weekend.  They faced off against Wexford at home in UPMC Nowlan Park and in a clinical performance, they dominated their neighbours from the start, closing out the first round encounter on a 1-31 to 0-12 scoreline.
