Dunnamaggin 2-14 (20) Shamrocks 1-16 (19)
Dunnamaggin, appearing in the Junior A league final for a third consecutive year, made it two wins from three (the other was in 2023), with a single point victory in the Junior A league final at Mullinavat.
On a lovely afternoon for hurling, and on an excellent surface, this was a well contested contest between two local rivals.
The sides were tied at 0-3 each after the opening ten minutes, Comor Lawton, and two Ruaidhri Holden frees for Dunnamaggin, Stephen Barron (free), Liam Barron and a lovely distance point from midfield by Conor Walsh for Shamrocks.
Conor Lawton got a Dunnamaggin goal soon afterwards, this, following a Ruaidhri Holden goal effort being well saved. A Holden pointed free followed, making it 1-4 to 0-3.
Shamrocks had their best spell of the game between the 16th and 23rd minutes with five unanswered points, to take the lead 0-8 to 1-4. Two scores from play by Larry Cody splitting three frees by Stephen Barron.
Dunnamaggin regained their lead with two scores from the lively Noah Cahill and a Ruaidhri Holden “65”.
Cian Cullen (BS) and Anthony Kearney (D) exchanged points before a Stephen Barron free closed out the first half scoring.

Holden with a free for Dunnamaggin, and Stephen Barron free exchanged scores early in the new half, as did the same two players a few minutes later.
Stephen Barton levelled the game, before Dunnamaggin recorded a vital second goal in the twelfth minute. The ball broke perfectly for Dunnamaggin, and Kieran Bergin made no mistake from close range (2-10 to 1-13). It was end-to-end from here to the finish and when Larry Cody goaled with two minutes remaining, levelling matters, 1-16 to 2-13, it looked like we were heading for extra time.
However, a late point by Dunnamaggin captain Anthony Kearney mesnt that he would be the one receiving the Junior A League trophy for 2025.

Dunnamaggin had fine performances from goalie Cathal Walsh, Jack Brett, Ruaidhri Holden, Kieran Bergin, Anthony Kearney and Conor Lawton.
Shamrocks were unlucky losers with players like Brian Butler, Colin Walsh, Larry Cody along with Stephen and Liam Barron, giving their best throughout.
Both sides should be there or thereabouts come the 2025 Junior A championship.

Glenmore 3-18; St. Lachtain’s 1-16
Glenmore emerged victorious over St Lachtain’s, Freshford in the Junior B Hurling League Final at Larchfield.
Overall, the Southern team were the better on this occasion, led by six points at the interval, 2-10 to 0-10 and fully deserved this victory.
Two first half goals in the 17th and 19th minutes, the first from Jason Cody, and the other, an excellent individual goal from Robbie Fitzgerald, put Glenmore in control. In fact, Glenmore could have raised a few more green flags by the interval, while a series of converted frees from Alan Rafter kept St Lachtains in touch.
To the Freshford men’s credit they took advantage of the strong wind in the new half, and when John Fitzpatrick goaled midway through, there was just a point between them.
Glenmore regrouped, and when Aaron O’Neill scored a goal from close range on 25 minutes, they were back five points clear and held on for a deserved victory.

Piltown 3-17; Lisdowney 3-13.
Piltown Junior C hurlers beat Lisdowney in a high scoring hurling League Final at St John’s Park.
Lisdowney led by a point at halftime, 3-5 to 1-10, but two second half goals from the North Kilkenny side made the difference as Piltown went on to win by four points.
Both sides had been close to winning the C league in recent years, Piltown in 2022 and Lisdowney last year.

Erin’s Own 3-20; Dicksboro 0-15
Erin’s Own, Castlecomer, Junior E league winners in 2023, moved another step up the junior grade pyramid, with a comfortable victory over Dicksboro at Palmerstown on Friday evening last.
Despite a man of the match showing by Dicksboro youngster Thomas Treacy, who recorded all bar one point of his sides total, there was no joy for the home side on this occasion.
Erin’s Own made the quicker start with an early 1-1, from a Michael Murphy free, and a Shane Holden goal. Ciaran Power opened the Boro scoring, followed by a Thomas Treacy score.
A Michael Murphy free and an Adam Brennan score left Comer four clear, 1-3 to 0-2, with eight minutes gone.
From here to the first half water break, back by popular demand on this humid evening, the eventual winners ourscored Dicksboro 0-8 to 0-2. Unlike ‘Boro, Erins Own had a good spread on their scorers with Martin Boran, Michael Murphy, James Coogan, Shane Holden, along with Adam and Ciaran Brennan all contributing. Erins own now led 1-11 to 0-4.
By the interval James Coogan, Martin Walsh and two Michael Murphy points, the first a free, all recorded Castlecomer points, with Treacy getting four back for Dicksboro in the same period

After the break Boro looked like a comeback might be possible, thanks to three early frees from Treacy. However, a goal from Shane Holden and an Adam Brennan pointed free, restored the Erin’s Own dominance. By the second half water break, Comer were ten points clear, 2-17 to 0-13.
James Coogan got a goal late on for Erin’s Own, as they headed towards victory, on a night when the Dicksboro forward line did not function.

This was a well-deserved victory for Erin’s Own, who must now be favourites for the championship in this grade. Players such as James Mullins, Martin Walsh Shane Holden, James Coogan, and former county minor star Michael Murphy were excellent on this evening.
Dicksboro lacked scorers other than Thomas Treacy and never looked likely to overcome the Northern side in this contest.
