The Kilkenny Minor team exited the 2011 GAA All Ireland Minor Hurling Championship in Walsh Park last night suffering a 0-15 to 0-9 defeat to Waterford in the quarter final. The defeat was as comprehensive as the scoreline suggests with Waterford in control for most of the game. The score at half time was 0-9 to 0-4, Kilkenny’s total coming from three Kevin Kelly frees and a single score from play from Peter Vickery. Kilkenny’s best period of the game came in the third quarter when the deficit was reduced to three points but Waterford exerted themselves again and finished strongly. Kilkenny’s second half scores came from Peter Vickery, Owen Mc Grath, Chris Bolger and a Kevin Kelly free.
