Shamrocks Ballyhale’s bid for a sixth St Canice’s Credit Union senior hurling title in a row was thwarted by O’Loughlin Gaels in a thriller in UPMC Nowlan Park, with the newly-crowned county champions edging out the Shamrocks by only the slimmest of margins – 0-20 to 0-19.
The sides were evenly matched throughout. The Shamrocks edged ahead with minutes to go but a David Fogarty point levelled the sides as whispers of extra time resonated amongst the 7K plus spectators. However, a stoppage point from Paddy Deegan was the winning of the game and the O’Loughlin’s fans erupted with joy as they claimed their first title since 2016.
