Message from Geri Hickey [Draw Co-Ordinator]
Dear Supporter
When the Hurlers Co-Op Draw was initially set up in 1982 I am sure no one envisaged that it would still be taking place in 2015.
In the last thirty-three years the Draw has become a Co-Op in every sense of the word with individuals and clubs all working together with a single focus – the development of GAA within their club and their county.
Every person who buys a ticket is contributing to this ongoing success and to the development of their own club and to GAA in County Kilkenny.
The Hurlers Co-Op Draw continues to give value for money. The ticket costs €50 for 5 draws with a cash alternative to all the top prizes.
From the very first ticket your club sells, it is funding the facilities in your local parish as well as contributing to development at County level.
Take time to stop and see how the facilities have developed and improved through your ongoing effort and dedication – no more togging out in the ditch or behind the car on a cold winters night. Today people demand high standards and it is up to you to ensure your club meets their expectations.
We need your support again in 2015. We are asking you to help us ensure the upkeep of the existing clubhouses and pitches and provide for the continued development of the facilities.
Thank you & Good Luck!
Message from Ned Quinn – [Chairman Kilkenny GAA]
Is cuis athais domsa mar Cathaoirleach Coiste Contae Cill Chainnigh failte a chur romhat do crannchur 2015 agus tugam cuireadh duit a bheith pairteach ann im mbliana.
As Chairman of Kilkenny GAA County Board I am delighted to invite you to participate in the 2015 Hurlers Co Op Draw. This year marks the 33rd year of the draw which is organised on a cooperative basis to benefit both the Clubs of our County and Kilkenny County Board.
Down through the years the proceeds from this draw have helped fund many of the excellent developments that clubs throughout the county have embarked on and continues to be an extremely important source of revenue for them.
At County Board level the revenue from the draw has been retained for Capital expenditure and has been of enormous importance in allowing us to continue with the redevelopment of Nowlan Park where we have just completed the installation of a state of the art Media Centre in Ardan Breathnach at the O’Loughlin Road side of the ground that includes facilities for seven radio stations, upwards of thirty newspaper reporters and a TV studio. Further work planned for this year includes the doubling of the number of wheelchair spaces available in Ardan De Gras and the redevelopment of the area adjacent to Ardan O Cearbhaill.
The success of the draw in each of the previous thirty two years has been made possible by the willingness of club members to go out and sell the tickets on behalf of their own clubs and I commend and sincerely thank each and every one of them for their efforts in doing so while asking them to continue this great work again this year.
Sincere thanks is also due to the Piltown club where the draw originated and to Draw coordinator Gerri Hickey who leaves no stone unturned in her efforts to maximise the sale of tickets to the greatest extent possible.
The cost of each ticket in the draw which is completely risk free to all clubs remains at €50 again this year with a minimum return to each club of €25 per ticket sold rising to a possible
€33 per ticket when additional sales targets are achieved.
We are currently enjoying a golden era of success at both club and county level and I appeal to the generosity of all GAA followers to support the Hurlers Co Op Draw this year and
thus play your part in ensuring the continuation of the great work that is being done for the promotion of Gaelic Games in every club in our county.
Is Mise
Eamon Ó Coinn
Cathaoirleach Coiste Contae Cill Chainnigh.
