Bridging a 78 year gap, Thomastown won their second ever senior county final in UPMC Nowlan Park yesterday when the defeated last year’s county champions, O’Loughlin Gaels. The Thomastown supporters erupted with joy at the final whistle as they claimed their first senior county title since 1946.
In wet conditions and in front of a crowd of over 9,000 spectators, Thomastown took control from the throw-in and led from the start, never relinquishing their lead, finishing on a scoreline of 0-18 to 0-7.
