Kilkenny Annual Convention 2024

The annual Kilkenny County Board Convention took place last night in O’Loughlin Gaels GAA Club.   Chairman PJ Kenny welcomed everyone and proceedings got underway.  A few items of note:

  • Conahy Shamrocks GAA Club, proposed Nickey Brennan to the position of President/Honorary President of Kilkenny GAA, in recognition of his achievements both on and off the field of play for both Conahy Shamrocks GAA and Kilkenny GAA.  The proposal was fully endorsed by all in attendance at convention and Nickey follows in the footsteps of another former President, Paddy Buggy, in becoming President of Kilkenny GAA.
  • Brian Ryan, chairman Fenians GAA, acknowledged the contributions of Pat Henderson, who had retired from committee duties after 56 years with Fenians.  Ned Quinn also paid tribute to Pat, outlining his achievements at county level, both on and off the field.  Ned expressed the desire that Pat’s expertise and wisdom would continue to be available to the county in the years to come.
  • 28 motions/recommendations were discussed
  • all officers were returned for 2025
