JJ Kavanagh Junior A Hurling Championship Semi Final
Threecastles 0-24; Carrickshock 0-17
Threecastles deservedly advanced to the JJ Kavanagh Junior A Final with a seven point victory over Carrickshock in the semi final at UPMC Dunmore on Friday 15/8/2025.
Aided by a man of the match display from star forward Eamonn Hennessy, they were in control most of the evening, and will now seek a “three-peat” in a fortnights time after winning the C and B championships over the past two seasons.
Before a very large attendance at the Dunmore venue, the club that makes up a small part of the Freshford parish are now just one step away from joining the Junior grade proper.
At the interval, Threecastles were three points clear, 0-14 to 0-11, and they could easily have added goals in the opening half, with at least three green flag chances, somehow shielded by a very effective Carrickshock defence.
Midway through the second half Threecastles led 0-19 to 0-14 and were never in real danger in the final quarter, despite the efforts of the Southern side.
They will now face Northern neighbours Tullaroan in an eagerly awaited final at UPMC Nowlan Park. Star of the show was the aforementioned Hennessy, he finished with 0-14, including 0-9 from play. Others that were prominent for Threecastles were Frankie Keoghan, Jack and Mark Cleere, along with Cormac Rafter, Cian Russell and Eoin Dalton.
For Carrickshock ex Wexford inter-county man Eanna Martin, Adam Franks and Aaron Roche were amongst those that impressed.
