Graignamanagh GAA Club officially opened its newly constructed Clubhouse Extension, including a state-of-the-art gym, on the 6th December 2025, with a large and enthusiastic attendance from the local community and supporters from further afield. The event highlighted the strong backing the club continues to enjoy from the Graignamanagh GAA community and beyond.
The opening was performed by Mr Jarlath Burns, Uachtarán CLG, and marked a major milestone for the club. The occasion also included the unveiling of a memorial in honour of Graignamanagh native Nick O’Donnell, commemorating the centenary of his birth in 1925.
New Clubhouse & Gym Project
The project, which commenced in April 2024, includes two large dressing rooms and modern facilities at ground level, along with a fully equipped gym on the upper floor overlooking the pitch. The overall cost of the development, including equipment and fittings, amounted to €500,000.
Funding was made possible through Sports Capital Grant Funding, Leinster GAA, St Canice’s Credit Union, and the generous support of numerous local donors from both the business and private sectors. The club sincerely thanks all who contributed to the successful completion of this important project.
Nick O’Donnell Memorial
Nick O’Donnell was born in Graignamanagh in 1925 and attended St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny, where his hurling talent came to prominence. After spells with Kilkenny, he later joined St Aidan’s GAA Club in Enniscorthy, becoming a key member of the Wexford Senior Hurling Team.
He went on to win three All-Ireland titles with Wexford and was later named Full Back on the Team of the Century. The O’Donnell family continues to farm locally and remains strong supporters of Graignamanagh GAA in both playing and administrative roles.
