The launch of the 2019 hurling and football Development Squads took place on Monday night last in Hotel Kilkenny. There was a large crowd in attendance for the event which had a number of speakers. The launch was opened by County board Chairperson Jimmy Walsh, Mr Walsh spoke about the importance of the development squad system and the role it plays in providing a supply chain for our senior teams. Kilkenny GDA Sean Kelly spoke about some existing programs and the introduction of new initiaves for 2019. Shane O’Donnell, Queens University Belfast spoke to the assembled crowd on the topic of mens metal health and the importance of seeking support at difficult times from an individuals support network. The evenings final speaker was former Kilkenny star Noel Skehan who operates at a monitor for the squads. Mr Skehan spoke about his observations following 2018 and his hopes and expectations for 2019.
As the squads program gets into full swing for 2019 we wish all our players and coaches the very best of luck for the year ahead.
