Favourite Moment – St Patricks Club

As part of the request from Kilkenny GAA for favourite moments to be sent to you, below please see a contribution from Eoin from St. Patricks, Ballyragget. Eoin is 11 years old and plays for U11 and U13 teams.  “My club means so much to me from playing and training with my teammates to going to the adult matches. I enjoy training with my friends and learning new skills, thanks to my trainers. I love to put on the Maroon and White colours of St. Patrick’s every time we play. I enjoy reporting on matches and bringing the teams and scores back to my Grandad. I have been at great matches with St. Patrick’s with the club appearing in county and All-Ireland finals at adult level. For U11 players, the St. Patrick’s club hosts a tournament each year called the Phelan Stone tournament.Clubs come to Ballyragget from around Kilkenny and from other counties. My favourite moment was when our team played the final of this tournament last year against our neighbours Conahy Shamrocks.  I had my appendix out that week, so couldn’t play in the tournament, but followed every puck from the sideline. Our path to the final involved group games and a semi-final win against Dicksboro. The match was closely contested but Conahy were on top at half time. The St. Patrick’s team came back fighting in the second half to win a narrow victory over a very skillful Conahy team. I was very excited when the referee blew the final whistle.   I am looking forward to going back training and playing matches when the current national emergency is over.”
